Connecting Your Accounts

Marin works by connecting to the tools you already use. This guide explains how to connect each service and what permissions Marin needs.

How Connections Work

When you connect an account, you're giving Marin permission to perform actions on your behalf. Marin uses secure OAuth authentication — the same technology used by major apps — so your passwords are never shared.

You can disconnect any account at any time. Marin will immediately lose access to that service.

Available Connections

Google Workspace

Gmail

What it enables: Reading incoming emails, sending replies, searching your inbox

Go to Connections

Open your Dashboard and click on Connections in the sidebar.

Click Connect Gmail

Find the Gmail card and click the Connect button.

Sign in with Google

Choose the Google account you want to connect and follow the authorization prompts.

Grant permissions

Review the permissions Marin is requesting and click Allow. Marin needs email access to read your requests and send responses.

Google Calendar

What it enables: Creating events, checking availability, updating meetings, sending invites

The setup process is similar to Gmail. Go to Connections and click Connect Google Calendar.

If you use the same Google account for Gmail and Calendar, you may only need to authorize once.

Google Drive

What it enables: Creating documents and spreadsheets, searching files, organizing folders, uploading files

Connect Google Drive to let Marin help you manage documents. For example, you can ask Marin to "Create a new spreadsheet for tracking expenses" or "Find the marketing proposal from last month."

Notion

What it enables: Creating pages, updating databases, searching your workspace

Go to Connections

In your Dashboard, navigate to Connections.

Click Connect Notion

Find the Notion card and click Connect.

Select your workspace

Notion will ask which workspace to connect. Choose the one you want Marin to access.

Select pages to share

You can grant Marin access to your entire workspace or select specific pages and databases.
Important
Marin can only access Notion pages and databases you explicitly share during the connection process.

Social Media

Instagram

What it enables: Creating posts, responding to DMs, reading comments

To connect Instagram, your account must be a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page.

Ensure you have a Business account

In Instagram, go to Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account.

Link to Facebook

Connect your Instagram account to a Facebook Page you manage.

Connect in Marin

Go to Connections, click Connect Instagram, and follow the Facebook authorization flow.

X (Twitter)

What it enables: Posting tweets, reading replies

Go to Connections and click Connect X to authorize Marin to post on your behalf.

Zoom

What it enables: Creating instant and scheduled meetings, managing meeting settings

Go to Connections

Navigate to Connections in your Dashboard.

Click Connect Zoom

Find the Zoom card and click Connect.

Authorize with Zoom

Sign in to your Zoom account and approve the connection.

Once connected, you can ask Marin things like "Create a Zoom meeting for tomorrow at 2pm" and it will generate a meeting link for you.

Managing Your Connections

Viewing Connected Accounts

All your connected accounts are visible on the Connections page. You'll see the status of each connection and when it was last used.

Disconnecting an Account

To remove Marin's access to a service:

  1. Go to Connections
  2. Find the account you want to disconnect
  3. Click Disconnect
  4. Confirm the disconnection

Marin will immediately lose access to that service. Any pending tasks that require that service will fail.

Reconnecting

If a connection expires or you accidentally disconnect, simply click Connect again and go through the authorization process.

Some connections may need to be renewed periodically for security reasons. Marin will notify you if a reconnection is needed.

Permission Levels

For each connected account, you can control what Marin is allowed to do:

LevelDescription
Full AccessMarin can perform any action without asking
Approval RequiredMarin will ask for your confirmation before acting
Read OnlyMarin can read information but not make changes
DisabledMarin cannot use this service

Configure these settings in your Permissions page.

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

If a connection fails:

  • Make sure you're signed into the correct account
  • Check that pop-ups aren't blocked in your browser
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting

Permissions Error

If Marin can't perform an action:

  • Verify the account is still connected
  • Check your permission settings
  • Make sure you granted the necessary permissions during setup
